Daffy, as Duck Twacy, boasts, "The case of the missing left sock is solved!" as he holds up a single sock. Behind him though, we can see the goings-on in a multi-story bulding by the shadows cast on the windows. On the ground floor, Gossamer appears to menacing someone unseen. The floor above has Witch Hazel chasing Speedy Gonzales, Rocky holding up Bugs, and Sylvester chasing Tweety. Above them, Henery Hawk pulls Foghorn by the foot, Ralph Wolf carries a sack, and Elmer hunts something unseen.
Dripalong Daffy, on an beautiful horse, and Porky, on a donkey, ride into the western town of Caktuspantz to rest and quench their thirst. They enter a saloon where Daffy orders an impressive number of drinks as he brags about his exploits and ignores Porky's attempts to get his attention. Porky was trying to explain that they had no money left. Porky winds up washing dishes to work off the large bill.
While Porky works, Daffy checks wanted posters to see who he can capture for the reward money. He finds a few that look like easy work to him, but the Sheriff tells him that each one was already caught, except for Nasty Canasta. Worried, but determined, Daffy sets out to catch Nasty. When the duck does catch up with Nasty, he just gets tossed out. A second try results in Nasty wiping part of Daffy's face for for laughing at him.
Finding Canasta again, the duck tries a card game -- and loses. Yet another try and Nasty is ready for a duck dinner. Daffy runs through town, chased by Nasty. Hearing Daffy's call for help, Porky tosses a bar of soap into the street. Nasty runs into the soap and slides until he hits a water trough which sends him flying right into a jail cell. The townsfolk celebrate Porky as the hero, and Daffy gets to finish the dishes.
A shivering Bugs sees a snowman with an empty cup hanging from a stick arm. The rabbit dashes off, then returns and leaves a carrot in the snowman's cup.
Elmer Fudd welcomes viewers to his TV show, Elmer's Home Impairment, and introduces guest Yosemite Sam. They get off to a bad start, partly as Sam isn't pleased since his own home repair show was canceled. Elmer decides to build something that should be easy and harmless: a spice rack. While Elmer's plans look rather good, Sam's plans leave much to be desired.
When construction starts, each claims a different power tool is the proper one for the job. Elmer's choice seems overbuilt but appropriate. Sam's choice seems just plain nuts, and he goes nuts with it, firing it like a machine gun. Getting to work, Elmer proceeds carefully, but Sam smashes his work. Fudd retaliates with a spray varnishing of Sam's hair and beard. Enraged, Sam shoots up the remains of Elmer's spice rack.
An argument follows, and Sam suggests a duel with the winner getting the TV show. Elmer accepts the challenge and chooses the weapon: glue at ten paces. Fudd arms himself with an Acme Epoxinator while Sam goes for Acme Permastucco. They square off like gunfighters and fire at the same time, covering each other in stucco and epoxy. The show ends with Elmer asking viewers to join him next time when the show will be about solvents so he can get himself, and Sam, unstuck.
Atop a fence, Sylvester welcomes an audience of cats to his musical performance. As he "sings" he dodges thrown fresh fruit and vegetables. When a packet hits him and knocks him down he demands to know who threw an unusual item: a packet of frozen peas. Seemingly unknown to the cats, a mouse is outside the comic panels and expressing an opinion of Sylvester's singing.
A lady is running from a jewelry store, having just robbed it. She runs into a park and rips off her dress, revealing no lady at all but Baby-Face Finster on stilts and using a mannequin as a disguise. He quickly sets up and is soon looking like a baby in a basket as the police search for the lady.
Also in the park is Charlie Dog, who is looking for a master so he doesn't have to sleep in the park again. After failing to get any attention from the searching policeman, Charlie spots a lady and a baby. The dog tries to sell himself as a watchdog and babysitter, but gets clobbered as an attacking dog. When the lady takes her baby and leaves, Charlie notices Finster alone. Picking up Finster's basket, Charlie chases after the lady, thinking she forgot him.
Finster grabs a tree branch to escape the dog, but Charlie then tries to rescue him. They both crash to the ground when Charlie cuts the tree branch while sitting on it. Annoyed, Finster inflates the dog by blowing into his nose. Charlie flies off like a deflating balloon, only to land on Finster's loot and pull out an item he mistakes for a rattle.
Finster hits the dog with the rattle-like item and gets back to his basket. A policeman arrives and Charlie tries to ask for help finding his mother. Finster's cover is blown when he hollers at Charlie to be quiet. The police catch Finster and take Charlie in as his accomplice since he has the rattle-like item. Charlie gets his wish, in a way. He'll be with his master, Finster, in prison for several years.
